The “arche’eau”* educative kit

Archeologists in the bud explore water phenomena

The Educational service of the CEAlex with the Scientific, Technical and Industrial Culture’s Centre of Marseille designed three educational trunks. They are available to the media-librarian, teachers and animators trained to use them. The “arche’eau” trunk displays two themes: water and underwater archaeology.

Based on “Read then Do”, the trunk displays documents (books, files…) and games. There are two kinds of activities: first, workshops where the children fulfil an experience, then stories read by the teacher or the animator.

It’s aimed at audiences of about twenty children, aged 10 to 14.

This educational tool is composed by three trunks:

  1. The blue Gold, an activity to discover the surprising properties of water through the eyes of a little girl from Alexandria.
  2. The Alexandria Lighthouse, an activity to understand the technologies used in the search of the Lighthouse and the study of the discovered elements
  3. Searching for wreck, an activity to understand scuba diving principle and the study methods of ceramic shards uncovered in an underwater archaeological site.

This trunk aims to travel and be used by all the cultural stakeholders (teachers, animators, librarians…). The educational service offers a training to use this tool in a scholar or extra-scholar frame.
