After studying history, Françoise Danset, devoted her entire working life in promoting public reading. She has held management positions in : Méjanes library in Aix-en-Provence, « Cergy Pontoise » (New City) libraries, Val d’Oise library, Bouches du Rhône libraries, and a public reading mission in the Ministry of Culture. Simultaneously, she led several activities :
- Teaching and professional training (IUT Aix en Provence, Paris Censier, Paris Villetaneuse, CNFPT, ABF).
- Expert’s reports for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs : cooperation mission for developing libraries (Subsaharian Africa, Maghreb region, Romania, Cambodge) ;
- Writer for Electre/ le cercle de la Librairie.
- She was involved in several associations : French Librarian Association (ABF) : national president from 1989 to 1994 ; European association EBLIDA (from 1992 to 1997) International Fedaration of Librarians Association (from 1989 to 1997), in MEDiakitab and in COBIAC (since 2007), where she has been in charged of the file : « public reading development in Bethlehem Governorate. »
